AI Tutorial – Vector Strawberry

Assignment #6: Choose one of the following tutorials

Using ONE of the Adobe Illustrator tutorials, create a 3D Design of your own. Try to render your object to the best of your ability. You are being graded on effort only at this point of the class. Pay attention to scale and perspective as this will help your object look more realistic. Feel free to make the item you choose any color you like and don’t forget the background.

Find here Adobe Illustrator video tutorials that will help in learning the tools, and in application for specific outcomes, i.e. logos, graphic design elements, page design and layout where a vector format is advantageous or required.

Reflection- For this assignment, I found a tutorial for a 3D chocolate covered strawberry. I used Adobe Illustrator tools like the gradient, eclipse, art brush, pencil and opacity tools and effects to create my strawberry image. I learned how to use a lot of new tools, like the gradient tool. I knew how to make gradients and play with the colors, but this tutorial used an actual tool on the left toolbar called the gradient tool. With this tool, you could move the center of radial gradients, and much more. I also learned that simple shapes can make really cool 3D effects, which is how I made it look like the light was shining on certain angles of the strawberry. The coolest thing that I learned was how I made the stem. I made a leaf shape, and filled it with different colors. Then, I dragged the shape (after grouping the colors together) into the paintbrush palette. After doing this, you can draw with the paintbrush tool, and have the colors appear in any shape you make! (That is how I drew the stem.) I think I did pretty well on this assignment, I am really proud of my strawberry and I think it looks awesome!
