PSA #2-Healthy Lifestyles

Description: Students build on their first PSA experience to make a Public Service Announcement using stills and video footage.  Students brainstorm topic ideas as a class to pick topics for their PSAs. Students work solo or in teams of 2-4 students. Students must develop the PSA with detailed documentation as follows, from start to finish. Content will be researched using a variety of proven sources, and images and video will be collected from various online and offline sources, and locations.
Students will use Adobe Photoshop to prepare images – size must be 800×600 pixels or 1026×768 pixels for optimal production using iMovie. Video footage will be edited using iMovie. Students are encouraged to use text screens to enhance their message, and an audio track must be included. PSAs are to be at one of the following lengths: 30 sec., 45 sec., or 60 sec. Longer length PSAs are OK with script approval.

Elevator Speech #2

Reflection: The first step in making my second PSA was to pick a topic. My topic that I picked was Healthy Lifestyles and I picked it from a list of five topics. After I had a topic I wrote a little two paragraph description about it. I made my elevator speech in  pages and it described my topic, how I am going to make my PSA, and who the targeted audience is. I believe my Elevator Speech is good because its quick and detailed. This was fun, but making my second PSA I think will be even more fun.

Description: Scene by scene set-up, and detailed description of content and flow. (20 points)

PSA #2 Script

Reflection: The first step in making my script was to think about my topic. I have to research and learn more about healthy lifestyles. I searched the web for healthy lifestyles, benefits of healthy lifestyles, and bad habits. I had the camera angle, setting, action, and description in my script. I wrote about a sentence for the action and description and one or two words for the camera angle and setting. I wrote my script in pages also. I also have what the slide says on the script, sometimes alone and sometimes over video. You also have to describe a background image if you have one. This project was pretty fun, but took a lot of effort!

Rough Cut

Description: Using iMovie, content is assembled and edited for presentation – streamed from Vimeo. (30 points)

Reflection: I started this PSA by going off my script. I went around to all the settings on my script and filmed. I filmed many different scenes some with Maddie and Molly in it and others with some more of my friends. I had to shoot things many different times if they were not how I liked. After I filmed all my scenes I put it all together on iMovie on my iPad. Once all the videos and photos were in I added captions. In all this was really fun and I’m glad I got to do it again and have another one in the future.

Edits List

Description:Students take peer evaluation feedback and create an edits list that will be applied to their Final Cut (10 points)

Edits List #2

Reflection: For my edits list I had three people watch my PSA. They filled out a sheet of paper and gave suggestions. I collected all of the suggestions and made a list of them. I made a list on pages on my computer. The three suggestions were to make some photos and text longer. I also have to make some shorter. The last thing I have to do is make my transitions better.

Final Cut

Description: Students post edited final video on ePortfolio PSA#1 page –  streamed from Vimeo (30 points)

Reflection: For my final cut PSA I  went off my rough cut and made all the changes. Once I made all the changes in iMovie I saved it to my camera role. Once it is in my camera role I uploaded it to vimeo. I made my video the best it could be, because its my last individual PSA. This was very fun. Filming in different settings was an adventure. This was a little tricky thinking of captions and getting correct videos. Once it was done I thought it turned out pretty good and I was happy:)
