SPSS- Desk Organizer

Description-

Students will explore different software applications for creating a simple 3D prototype design. As a class we will brainstorm ideas for replicating and/or customizing designs for common simple objects that are used to solve routine problems. Examples might include is designing a tool to fasten materials together (wrench, hammer, screw driver), lego type building blocks, etc.

Students will use 123d Design and/or Sketchup to “solve” their problem. Objects will be imported to Meshmixer for final tweaking and prepping for 3D printing.

Reflection-This project was really fun and challenging to make.  We used the computer program 123D design.  I started by placing a rectangle on the ground and making a platform for my desk organizer. After that I placed two circles and two rectangles.  Then I used the extruding tool and extruded everything to the right height.  Next I added another two circles and two rectangles on top of the other ones.  The second to last thing I did was used the push pull tool and pushed the second circles and rectangles down so there was an opening.  Finally the last thing I did was typed my name and extruded it.  This was a great learning experience for me!
