Group Project- Bathroom Essential Organizer

Description

Students will explore different software applications for creating a complex 3D prototype design(s). In teams of team 2-3, students will brainstorm ideas for replicating and/or customizing designs for common objects that are used to solve routine problems. Examples might include designing prototype car – chassis, wheels, etc. that gets assembled after printing, a prototype of ergonomic furniture, a revolutionary scooter prototype, etc. Detail in specifying measures for design elements becomes essential to successful builds.

Students will use 123d Design and/or Sketchup to “solve” their problem. Objects will be imported to Meshmixer for final tweaking and prepping for 3D printing.8

Reflection- In this project we had three separate parts.  The drawer, the lower piece-which has a tooth paste holder, and the upper piece-which  has a place to hold tooth brushes.  I made the drawer by making a square on the ground then extruding it up.  After that I extruded it down and added a circle for the handle.  Sydney made the lower part by first extruding up a 8, 6 rectangle.  After that she used the push pull tool and made a slot for the drawer to go in. After that she extruded up a little box for the tooth paste to go in.  The last things she did was extruded down holes for the support poles to go in that are connected to the upper part.  Olivia and Abby did the upper part.  First they put down 4 cylinder so they fit in the wholes.  After that they added a rectangle on top then extruded it up.  The last thing we did was added little slots on the top so the tooth brushes fit.  It was a little challenging working with a group but we worked everything out.  Everybody in my group are my really good friends so there was no major problems.  I’m really sad that this class is about to end!!!!
