Investigation 1
-
At the end of Investigation 1 of Trees and Weather, 1st grade, teachers can plant a tree at their school, after getting approval from either their principal or a grounds manager. Do not plant the trees from this unit until you speak with facilities first. If a tree cannot be planted on school grounds, it can be planted somewhere else in the community. If none of these options are available, your tree might just “visit” your classroom. It doesn’t say this in the curriculum, but I might also suggest some other alternatives –* That a student could get to take the tree home and plant it at their house.* The tree could get planted in a bigger pot and be left at the school.* The tree could be recycled for the next classroom!!* You could take the tree home! 🙂
Investigation 2
- They are asking for a felt board to display the felt leaves. You can use your cork board and pin them to the board instead.
- Students will need to collect leaves. To gain a variety, have them bring them from home.
- Amazing Resource – check out this blog all about leaf activities!!
