Fresh Pico De Gallo!
Ingredients (for individual portion:
- 1/2 Roma Tomato
- 1/4 Jalapeño
- 1/8 Small White Onion
- 1/8 Lime
- Cilantro
- Pinch of Kosher Salt
Tools Needed:
- Bowl
- Cutting Board
- Chef’s Knife
Cooking Instructions:
- Cut Ends off Tomatoes
- Remove Seeds and Soft Insides of Tomato
- Dice tomato by first cutting into matchsticks
- Then gathering the matchsticks together and dicing into squares. Make each piece about 1/4 inch or so
- Place tomato pieces in bowl.
- Cut the end off your hot pepper
- Cut pepper in half
- Remove inner membrane and seeds
- Dice pepper like the tomato. First cut into matchsticks
- Then turn and dice into small pieces. The jalapeño pieces should be smaller than the tomato pieces.
- Place the jalapeño pieces in the bowl with the tomato
- Cut the ends off the onion
- Cut the onion in thin strips
- Turn the onion and cut perpendicular to your first cuts
- Place onion pieces in bowl with tomato and jalapeño
- Cut a small piece of lime
- Squeeze lime into bowl (try not to get lime seeds into bowl!)
- Pull off a few leaves of cilantro
- Bunch the leaves on the cutting board
- Then chop leaves
- Sprinkle a pinch of salt
- Stir with a spoon
- You are ready to eat!
