Chicken Safety Tips

Please remember the following tips:

  1. Never Rinse Raw Chicken
  2. Put the wrapping that packaged your chicken in the trash right away
  3. Use a separate cutting board to prep your chicken
  4. Put cutting board/knifes and any other tool that touched raw chicken in the dishwasher right after you use them
  5. Wipe counter/table with disinfectant and a sponge or paper towel after you finish cooking chicken
  6. If you use a sponge, put sponge in dishwasher after you clean the plate that had raw chicken
  7. Wash hands after touching raw chicken
  8. Keep a plate next to the stove for your utensils
  9. Use a meat thermometer to make sure it is cooked.  Your thermometer should read 165 degrees or higher.
  10. If you do not have a meat thermometer, use a knife and fork.  Cut into the chicken and make sure there is no pink and the juices run clear.
