How To Carve A Turkey
Ingredients:
- Roasted Turkey
Tools Needed:
- Sharp Chef’s Knife
- Cutting Board
Carving Instructions:
- Take Turkey out of the oven. Let rest for at least 30 minutes
- Find separation mark between the thighs and the legs
- Pull your sharp knife along the separation mark on both sides
- Expose the Joint and push up to remove the leg
- Run your knife down the keel bone
- Use your thumb to separate the breast from the keel bone and breast bone
- Use your knife to cut the breast meat from the keel bone and breast bone
- Cut until the wing bone
- Cut the wing at the natural separation. Tug on the wing to find the joint.
- Cut the “drumstick” part of the wing away from the breast bone. Tug on the wing to find the joint.
- Remove the meat at the top of the breast bone
Carving the Leg/Thigh:
- Turn the Leg over to find the joint
- Cut at the natural separation. You should see a little line
- For the Thigh: Cut around bone to remove it
- Cut Thigh into even slices
For the Breast:
- Slice against the grain
- Cut even slices to keep the skin on
