Chicken Safety Tips
Please remember the following tips:
- Never Rinse Raw Chicken
- Put the wrapping that packaged your chicken in the trash right away
- Use a separate cutting board to prep your chicken
- Put cutting board/knifes and any other tool that touched raw chicken in the dishwasher right after you use them
- Wipe counter/table with disinfectant and a sponge or paper towel after you finish cooking chicken
- If you use a sponge, put sponge in dishwasher after you clean the plate that had raw chicken
- Wash hands after touching raw chicken
- Keep a plate next to the stove for your utensils
- Use a meat thermometer to make sure it is cooked. Your thermometer should read 165 degrees or higher.
- If you do not have a meat thermometer, use a knife and fork. Cut into the chicken and make sure there is no pink and the juices run clear.
