How To Load A Diswasher
Tips:
- Not all items are dishwasher safe. You must hand wash all items that are not safe for the dishwasher. Some items that will need to be hand washed are
- Wooden Utensils/Bowls
- Non-dishwasher safe plastic
- Items made from iron, pewter or bronze
- Sharp kitchen knives so your blades do not become dull.
- Scrape off food scraps into a garbage can
- Put plates on the lower rack. Make sure there are spaces between the plates so water has a clear path to clean all surfaces. It is a good idea to stagger large and small plates.
- Put all larger items (such as baking sheets, cutting boards and frying pans) around the outer edge of the lower rack.
- Put cups and glasses on the top rack. Make sure the cups do not touch each other. You don’t want them to vibrate; they might chip and break.
- Smaller bowls go on the top rack at a slight incline facing down so they do not fill with water.
- Place extra tall utensils on the top rack as well. Make sure the spoons are facing down so they do not fill with water.
- Put dishwasher safe plastic on the top rack as well, to keep it away from the heat.
- Put knifes face down in the cutlery rack for safety. Forks and spoons can go face up or face down. Spread all cutlery through out the baskets.
- Use dishwasher detergent, not regular dish soap.
- Run hot water (and your garbage disposal) before running your dishwasher. This ensures your dishwasher will start with hot water.
