Assignment #2: Play w/Adobe Illustrator

Using adobe Illustrator, students will practice using eight following tools to get to gain a basic understanding of AI – Layers, text, type on a path, shapes, stroke, gradient, symbols, clipping mask & swirl tools. Once they have demonstrated that they can use the tools they are to save the document as a .jpg and upload to their ePortfolio on the Adobe Illustrator page.

Reflection ; For this project we had to just play around with Adobe Illustrator. We had to use Layers, Text, Type on a Path, Shapes, Strokes, Gardient, Symbols, Clipping Mask, and Swirl tool.

First I started by making a background with gardient and adding a stroke around it. Then changed the colors of the gardient to make a cool water feel with cool colors. Second I made a swirled line with the pencil and wrote my name with type on a path, then I changed the color and stroke of it. Third I swirled the outline of the background. Forth I added flower symbols, a white rose, a red rose and a hibiscus. 5th I typed out the number 13 and used my white rose for the clipping mask for the 13. Sixth I used the shape tool to put a square around the 13 and used the type on a path to write “my favorite number” around it. Finally I used the shape tool to make a big purple star with a pink stroke around it. Once I made the big star I added little stars on the inside, but all of the stars had different strokes around them.

I had fun messing around with all the different tools and creating my own project. The only thing I didn’t like is that computers and I aren’t the best of friend so I have a hard time working with computers sometimes. BUt other than that I had fun doing this project and playing around with AI.
