Clay Box

6) Clay Box or Dish

Students will have the opportunity to experiment with clay by making a small box with lid. They will be learning the importance of thickness, slip, scratching and attaching, adding texture, design, firing, glazing and painting. Assignments will be graded on how well students followed instruction, helpful clean-up routines, and project completeness. Students will take photos of their projects to record their efforts and upload to their ePortfolio when complete.

Reflection; For this project we worked with clay to make boxes. I decided to make mine into a candle holder for my mom. That’s why the holes go all the way through my box. First we had clay, then we split it into two balls and made two pinch pots. Second we put newspaper inside the pinch pots, stuck them together and made the box into the shape we wanted. Waited for it to dry, then cut off the lid. Third we painted and glazed it. I like this project the best because I learned to work with clay much more!
