AI Layers

AI_Layers

Assignment #3: Layers Project

Using Adobe Illustrator, create a recognizable 2D object or scene, something used,  interacted, or seen regularly. Try a variety of tools to render your object to the best of your ability. You are being graded on effort only at this point of the class. Pay attention to scale and perspective as this will help your object look more realistic. Use the Grid (under View menu). Using Guides (pull out from rulers) will also be helpful). You may choose to use the Perspective Tools (Grid and Selection) to help with your design. Hint: Turn Rulers on under View menu. Use Control + Click On the active Ruler to select your unit of measure.

Reflection; For this project we had to start with a background and then add in different symbols or other things in different layers.

First I started with a background by doing a sort of sunset gradient. Second I made a rectangle with a gradient that kind of looks like water. Then I cut out a wave that looks like and ocean. Third I made a smaller rectangle with a pale yellow. Once I cut out a beach, and I added a grainy texture to make it look more like a beach. Forth I added in different symbols and drawing in different layers. Like I added a two shells with effects on them, I added a fish jumping out of the water and I added a sort of seaweed kind of looking plant but on all different layers. Then I drew a palm tree and a crab on different layers. Finally I added a circle above the water and made a yellow and orange gradient in the circle to look like a sun, then I cut of half of it and put it over the water to look like it was setting.

I had more fun with the AI this time because I had, had more practice with it. Surprisingly the computer worked with me this time! I really enjoyed cutting out the beach and the ocean and adding texture to make the beach look like sand. This time I had a lot of fun working AI this time!
