This is about a girl named Opal who lives with her father who is a preacher. Her dad sends her to the store to get some things and she comes home with a dog.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl

A boy named Charlie Bucket lives with his parents and his four grandparent. They live in a tiny house. Charlie gets the opportunity to go into the biggest chocolate factory in the world by a golden ticket Willy Wonka put into 5 candy bars. While Charlie and his grandfather are inside Willy Wonka’s factory, Charlie was the only kid left, and Willy Wonka gave Charlie the opportunity to have his amazing chocolate factory.

The main character comes from a broken familiy because his father was dead and they lived in a small town. He saves an old man but he dies within 24 hours. Before he died, however, he said that he saw these huge birds. .Then the adventure starts in search of the birds.

The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan

Percy, Annabeth and Tyson the cyclops have to go to the Sea of Monsters (aka Bermuda Triangle) to save their friend Grover, a satyr (aka half goat, half kid) and get the Golden Fleece, the only that that can save Camp Half-Blood (a camp for kids who are half-god, half-mortal) from getting overrun by monsters.
