Kick Off by Donna King

Tyra Fraser just moved to gloomy England from Florida.  Tyra is an amazing soccer player.  Alicia is a girl on Tyra’s new soccer team.  And she really dislikes her.  She plans things to distract Tyra from glory so Alicia can have it.  Tyra definitely won’t let Alicia get in her way!

Toby Wheeler, Eight Grade Benchwarmer by Heldring

This book is about a gym rat who tries to play real basketball. His friend has been on the team so he wants to play on the same team. When Toby joins the team he isn’t on the first or even the second team, he is a benchwarmer. So the coach tells the whole team it takes twelve men to win a game. Good sports book!

There are three guys named Cory, Tchaka and Russel. They live on Coney Island in New York. They play basketball in a bad neighborhood. They all want to go to college but they get bad grades. They all work harder in high school so they can go to college.

Honus and Me by Dan Gutman

This is a great story about a boy who loves to collect baseball cards. One day he finds one that has magical powers. His adventures take him time-travelling, and , in the process he learns some great life lessons. A fun and easy read!

Summerball by Michael Lupica

You don’t have to love sports to love this book. Danny, a basketball nut, goes to basketball camp and deals with being an underdog. Short but feisty, Danny deals with friendship and winning and losing in this often humorous book about growing up in a sports world.
