Dear Students and Families,

My name is Jasmin Quitta and I will be one of the Connections teachers for the 2021-2022 school year. Connections is one of the transition services offered through the 4J Transition Program. Our goal is to help students with the transition from High School to independent living. High school graduates with a modified diploma or a GED, and who have received Special Education Services are eligible for this program. In addition to myself, Anders Pettersson will be a teacher and Lori Arnold will be our Connections Transition Specialist.

Connections is a full or part time individualized program designed to support students between the ages of 18-21 in developing and reaching their goals as they move into adulthood. The Connections curriculum focuses on promoting the skills needed to be successful in vocational, educational, independent living and social settings. As part of our program, we can provide assistance in accessing community services which students may be eligible for. Instruction takes place in several locations within the community, depending on student need. Students may take part in small group seminars, vocational work crews and/or individual advocate sessions designed to support each student’s goals.

We plan to hold online informational meetings on Tuesday September 7th at 6:30pm or Thursday September 9th at 2:00pm. This will take place via Zoom and the link is:

There is a summer job club opportunity being lead by the transition specialists. Please let us know if this is interesting to you.

My name is Johnna Garcia and I’m the Transition Specialist at North. Joshua Gramley, the Transition Specialist from South, and I have been working on getting a job club together for the summer. It was important to us that we make a safe space for our students to come together and have some stability, fun, and get some one on one help with post high school goals.

We want to meet Tuesday and Thursday from 10am-2pm starting on 7/6 and ending on 8/12.  We are hoping to be able to meet at downtown LCC, but that’s still up in the air.
We are looking to spend one day volunteering somewhere or doing something fun like maybe frisbee golf or hiking and one day in the classroom where we would have lunch, meet one on one to work on any post high school goals they have, and meet with a community member via zoom. We are looking for community members who can talk about employment, LCC, and any services our students might need like Voc Rehab, Worksource Oregon, DD services, Social Security, or anything they want to know about.
