The characters are Lottie, Francis and Billy and they are trying to get to Oregon. They find a forest and journey through it. Then Crancis is hunting and got bitten by a snake. He is unconscious for 3 weeks and then finds an Indian tribe.

Hattie Campbell is a 13 year old girl whose family decides they are moving to Oregon. Hattie has to leave her best friend and travel on the Oregon Trail to find the ‘promised land’. Everyone’s lips are chapped and bleeding. Crossing rivers wasn’t so easy and no one knows what to expect on this long journey to their ‘manifest destiny.’
