Patchwork Girl of Oz by L. Frank Baum

In an adventure totally unrelated to Dorothy, Scarecrow or the Cowardly Lion; Ojo has to track across the Land of Oz to find the ingredients in the recipe an unauthorized wizard needs to unfreeze his uncle. The Patchwork Girl isn’t necessarily the main character but plays a good part. It really should have been called Ojo of Oz.

Alice is completely bored with her life. When she notices a rabbit with a waist-coat and a watch, she follows him down the rabbit hole and transported to the topsy-turvey land called Wonderland. When she is accused of stealing the queen’s tarts she has to defend herself and try to get back to her boring old life.
