Granny Torrelli Makes Soup by Sharon Creech

The characters in this book make you wish you could sit down and eat soup with them! It is a story about neighbors who have known each other since they were born who are beginning to fall in love. As always, they encounter ups and downs. Granny Torrelli’s soup helps them make it through.

The Hunger Games by Susan Collin

A girl named Katneiss’s sister, Prime, gets drawn for the hunger games. The hunger games is a way to punish the district 1-12. The capital is punishing them because district 13 tried to take over. Katniss has to survive in the arena against 23 other tributes who are trying to kill her.

In this book there are 3 children who’s parents recently died in a fire. They have encountered a series of unfortunate events. They have been followed by an evil man named Count Olaf. Count Olaf wants the fortune the parents left behind.

There are three guys named Cory, Tchaka and Russel. They live on Coney Island in New York. They play basketball in a bad neighborhood. They all want to go to college but they get bad grades. They all work harder in high school so they can go to college.

Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

Rhett Butler and Scarlett O’Hara head an inspired cast of characters in Margaret Mitchell’s timeless epic. Scarlett O’Hara, a pampered southern belle, is madly in love with Ashley Wilkes. But he is getting married to his cousin, Melanie Hamilton. Scarlett pines for him while going through the Civil War and the Reconstruction years plus a string of unsuccessful marriages. This book is timeless and should be required reading.

Gregor and the Curse of the Warmbloods by Suzanne Collins

The main characters in this book are Gregor, Boots and Ripred. It takes place under New York City. The main character, Gregor, needs to find the plague cure. Be warned, some people die!

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne

This is a story about the Holocaust told in very personal terms, from the point of view of a young boy named Bruno. The characters are easy to connect with, and the ending really makes the reader feel at a human level the horror of that time in our world’s history. This book is a MUST read!!!

Swindle by Gordon Korman

This is a nice, suspenseful, action book. You would like this book because it talks about how kids are too young to talk to the city council. The kids find a Babe Ruth Baseball Card and a guy buys it from them for $120 but it’s worth about a million dollars! The kids try to get it back, but there’s a body guard and a watch dog. What are they going to do???

Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli

This was a very exciting story and you didn’t want to put this book down. I think you would like it because some of the things happen in every day life. It has some funny things too.

It’s about this girl named Stargirl and a boy named Leo. Leo is just a regular boy but Stargirl is not at all a regular girl!
