Hello Everyone,

Four items of note for this week.

• BRING Recycling Free Presentations and Tours – BRING Recycling works under contract with Lane County to provide educational outreach to all schools in the county. This service is provided free of charge. If you’d like, they will come to your class to teach the three “Rs” (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), to learn how to reduce personal and school waste, and to understand how the stuff we use shapes the planet we share. They also offer tours of the Glenwood Central Receiving Station (the dump), Short Mountain Landfill, and The Planet Improvement Center. Students come back from these field trips with a new understanding of what impact their trash has on the local community, as well an understanding of just how inefficient waste is in our world. If you like more information, see the attached BRING flyer.

• Fire Drill, Tuesday at 1:00 PM – Our October fire drill will be this Tuesday at 1:00. And as a reminder, later this year we’ll have one month were the fire drill date and time will be “Crystal’s Choice”, so you’ll need to have your kids prepared for what to do no matter what time it happens (recess, passing times, electives, etc…). I’ll give warning the month that is happening though.

• IIPM Data Review & Team Process Keynote in PDF – Several staff members let me know the Keynotes I forwarded to each school in last week’s announcements were created in a newer version of Keynote that we currently have and could not be opened. Attached are the same Keynotes in PDF format for both YG and Corridor.

• PBS Launches New Apps and Games – PBS KIDS is launching a slew of new apps for kids age two to eight with hopes of building math skills. The games revolve around well-known characters and stories, including Curious George, The Cat in the Hat, and the Electric Company. Visit the PBS KIDS Lab to see the new apps.

Have a good week, everyone!
