Next Wednesday February 27th there will be a Transition Fair in the Sheldon HS Cafeteria 6:00pm to 7:30pm.  This event is for youth 13 to 21 and their families to learn about different agencies that can help youth successfully transition into adulthood.  Representatives will be there to present their services and talk about them.

It’s The Year of the Pig – Celebrate it at the Asian Celebration!

Happy Valentines Day ♥- What are you doing for your loved ones? 

Presidents day this Monday February 18th – No School

Connections is organizing a train trip to Portland to visit ZOO in May and we would like to see if Connections students are interested.  The cost will be about $50 per person which includes transportation and entrance to the ZOO.  We will be taking a charter bus to Portland and retuning on an Amtrak train.  Please let Anders know if you are interested because if we don’t have enough people we can’t go.

What are you going to do this three day weekend?  The 34th annual Asian Celebration is taking place at the Lane County Fairgrounds 10-6 Saturday and Sunday.  The cost is $6.00 but is free with 

student ID (your Connections/LCC bus pass).  For the free ticket you must go to an Oregon Community Credit Union bank and show your ID to get the ticket. Here is the link to their web site for more information – http://asiancelebration.org/

Will The Snow Come Back?

We almost had a snow day, but Winter is still happening so keep your eye out on the weather report.

Valentines Day is next Thursday!  We hope you have a day full of love.  Transition Times crew wants to remind you to be sensitive to people who might have a hard time on this day. If you are bringing gifts or treats to school be sure to have enough for everyone.  If you have special gifts to give to special people in your life, please give them outside of school.

February Challenge

Please remember there is no Connections or 4j classes on Friday February 1st. Lane Community College is still in session. This Friday marks the middle of the school year.

The weather report predicts snow on Monday. Check the 4j website at www.4j.lane.edu and local news reports to see if there will be any closures or late starts. Please click on the link above “in case of snow” for more details.

February is the shortest month of the year and the Transition Times crew encourages you to participate in the February Challenge. Think about a habit you would like start or get rid to improve your life. We would like to hear what challenge you will take and how you are doing with it.

For example:
Mike will cut out junk food, coffee and exercise every day for 20 minutesHealthy portions of fish, rice, and vegetables

Jasmin and Heather will drastisticly reduce sugar intake

Shayan will practice sitting while eating

Anders will eliminate eating meat one day a week

Makenna will cut her carbs and sugar

Richard will drink more water

Everett will walk/exercise over the weekends

Friday Friday

The Springfield Transition Social will take place this Friday, January 25 in the morning.  Please let your case manager know if you plan to attend and details can be seen below. Remember to budget $5 for the event.

No school on Friday, February 1st due to a professional development and teacher planning day.

This weekend 1/24-27 there is a free model railroad show at the Valley River Center. They will display operating model railroads for the fortieth year of the Willamette Cascade Model Railroad Show.

Winter Social and MLK Day Next Week

*Remember there is no school for LCC or Connections on Monday January, 21st to celebrate Marthin Luther King Jr. There is a community celebration hosted by the NAACP at PK park 9:00am-12:oopm. See https://naacplanecounty.org/ for more details

 

On Friday, January 25th, the Springfield Transition Program will be hosting their annual Transition Winter Social.  There will be pizza, italian sodas, snacks, dancing and a chance to catch up with old friends or even make new ones! 

The cost is $5.00 per person and Anders will be collecting money during the week.  If it is a hardship to afford, please talk to your case manager.

Transportation will be provided by activity van.  We will be leaving the Connections building at 10:00am, stopping by LCC DT at 10:20am and arriving in Springfield arriving by 10:30am.  We will leave Springfield at 12:30pm and return to the Connections building by 1:00pm.  Please let your case manager know what you plan to do.

Welcome back and hope you had a great Winter break.

The term started on Tuesday January 8th and will last until March 22nd. Spring break officially starts March 25th.

Fun Winter Friday at Putters!

Winter Break is soon here! Classes resume Tuesday, January 8th. Remember that LCC ABSE and credit classes begin on Monday, January 7th.

We will be ending Fall term with a social event at Putters on Friday December 21st. Connections will pay $5.00 towards one game of mini golf or Lazer tag. A game of Lazer tag will be $8.00 total. Students will need to bring additional money for any other purchases such as food, arcade games etc.

Putters is located at the Gilbert Shopping Center on Highway 99
1156 OR-99, Eugene, OR 97402

You may meet us at Putters at 12:00pm and leave by 2:00pm. Feel fee to meet us downtown at 11:25am on the #41. Please let a Connections staff know what you plan to do.

Take the 11:00am #36 to Downtown LTD Station arriving at 11:20am
Take the 11:30am #41 to Gilbert Shopping Center arriving at 11:46am
