Hiring Fair Prep!

For THURSDAY Hiring Fair: We’ll meet at LCC at 12:00 for lunch and get ready for the hiring fair (please dress appropriately and be groomed and ready w resumes etc).
At 12:20 we’ll walk together as a group to SPARKLAB (across  the street from HULT center).

Important info from the organizer  for the Hiring Fair (4/21):
***** Bring Face Masks!!
Due to high demand from schools and industry, we will have two event locations (two blocks apart). ALL students will be dropped off at SparkLab and we will have volunteers walk students and chaperones to the second location. Groups will switch mid-way through the event so they have time to visit all booths. Students will not walk between sites without a chaperone.
Students will have just under 45 minutes at each location (13 booths at ea. site) and we will have resume support rooms staffed with volunteers at both sites. We will also have printers available if students need additional copies of their resumes.
PREP PLAN:
  • Attached is the student prep plan – This walks students through resume building, interviewing tips, how to present themselves professionally, etc.
  • Please be sure students have reviewed this prep plan prior to the HF so they can come as prepared as possible!
WHAT STUDENTS SHOULD BRING:
  • Mask (must be worn at all times)
  • Resumes
  • Digital copy of their resume (Google Drive log-in info or as a file on a thumb drive) if they plan to seek resume support or printing services
  • Students will be WALKING two blocks from site A to site B, so please have them bring coats if it is cold or raining!

Location: Spark Lab  (22nd W 7th Ave.)

Mask Mandate for Oregon Lifted on March 12th and Spring Connections Schedule Posted

The Connections Spring Schedule is posted and can be accessed by clicking the tab on the top left of the page. Please review the classes and schedule with your case manager or advocate before the last day of Winter term Wednesday 3/16/22.

Schools, Healthcare Settings and public transit will still require masks until further notice.

People may choose to mask at any time. People with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask according to the CDC. If you ask one of the transition times editors, they would add that people who recently came back to school after a trip should also wear a mask.

Lane County continues to be at high risk due to hospital beds being used, hospital admissions, and the total number of new COVID-19 cases in an area.

February Check-in

February is filled with interesting historical relevance. Just yesterday was a particularly special Tuesday, 2-22-22 being called a “Palindrome Day” or “Twos-day”. A palindrome is defined as “a word, phrase, or sequence that reads the same backward as forward, e.g., ‘madam’ or ‘nurses run'”

There is so much that I didn’t know about February, that I found out just from asking google. Try exploring the links below!

February 15th is the birthday of Susan B. Anthony, a powerful figure who had been committed to equality and fighting injustice since she was a child.

“February is also African American History Month. The Library of Congress, National Archives and Records Administration, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution, and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum all join our nation in paying tribute to the generations of African Americans who struggled with adversity to achieve full citizenship in American History.”
