Food boxes with seven days of meals will be available on Dec. 18 and 28
4J students will continue to have access to nutritious food at no cost during winter break.
On Friday, Dec. 18, the last school day before winter break, families can pick up a free youth food box along with the daily meal. The food box provides an additional seven days of breakfast, lunch and dinner meals. Free youth meal boxes will be distributed at the 10 serving sites (list of sites) during the normal pickup hours, 10:45 a.m.—2 p.m. Families receiving meals via delivery will receive their youth food boxes on Friday. The meal boxes include breakfast bread (such as banana or blueberry), sandwich fixings (loaf of bread, meat, cheese, hummus), frozen entrees for dinner, and lots of vegetables, fruit, milk and other items. Vegetarian and made-without-gluten options are available.
Then, on Monday, Dec. 28, families can pick up another week of free youth meals behind the 4J Education Center, 200 N. Monroe St., from 11 a.m.–5:30 p.m. while supplies last. The boxes can only be picked up at this location; there will be no deliveries.
When school resumes online on January 5, meals will again be delivered and available at the 10 sites across the district each school day from 10:45 a.m.–2 p.m. A dinner meal will be added to the ongoing breakfast and lunch provided each day, and extra meals for the weekend will be provided on Fridays.
