Hi Everyone,

Four items of note for this week:

• Spring easyCBM Benchmark Testing – Downtown has had a number of requests for clarification on the required tests for each grade level for the Spring Testing Window, so attached is list of assessments by grade level. The testing window is open now until Friday, June 3rd. Subs are available if you need them (just select “easyCBM Elementary in AESOP). All scores must be entered no later than Friday, June 3rd.
• EMazing Reader Bookmark Totals Due Thursday – The Ems are ready to deliver free tickets to students who met their reading goal. The suggested deadline was May 11th, thought they are flexible if you want to extend the deadline. Let me know by Thursday how many students met the goal. Also, let me know how you would like your tickets delivered. The Ems gave us two options. One, they can simply give the tickets to the office. Or two, they can have Sluggo come and deliver the tickets to individual classrooms, which is of course the more fun but also more disruptive option. So let me know by Wednesday how many students met the goal and if you want Sluggo to come to your classroom or not.
• Grades 3/4/5 Strings Concert – 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classes are invited to come to a strings assembly Wednesday, May 25th morning at 8:45 in the cafeteria. It’s a couple weeks away, but thought I’d give folks a heads-up.
• How to get the most out of what remains of the school year – It’s important that teachers and students finish the school year strong, says teacher and author Larry Ferlazzo. In this excerpt from his new book, Ferlazzo suggests using student-centered learning or project-based instruction to keep students motivated until the final day. Field trips and technology projects also can energize students, Ferlazzo writes. For teachers, he recommends working fewer hours, reaching out to other teachers and trying new things in the classroom.

Have a great week, everyone!

Allan
