June 1, 2010

Hi Everyone,

Hope you all had a fabulous three day weekend. I spent mine relaxing and playing with my baby (and some TV watching too).

Five items of note for this week:

• Zimbra Calendars – When you click on your CALENDAR tab in Zimbra, you should now see three calendars that I have shared with all staff. Those calendars are “Silver Lea”, “Corridor”, and “Yujin Gakuen”. If you are missing any of these calendars, let me know and I can help you set them up. You’ll want to make sure you can view these calendars because next year I will not be emailing the lists of dates on my announcements attachment.
• Equipment Checkout – I believe everyone who has been taking their laptops home during the school year have already filled out the “Equipment Check-Out” form, but if you have not done so and intend to take your laptop home over the summer, please complete this form and return it to me before leaving for your Summer Break. The form can also be found online here.
• Kids & Family: Summer Reading Events – Starting Saturday, June 5, kids are invited to sign up for Eugene Public Library’s free Summer Reading program with the 2010 theme “Make Waves!” Details can be found on the library website here.
• Math Anxiety Article – Attached is an article about how teacher math anxiety can effect students perception of math. Interesting research.
• Staff Summer Mix CD – If you’d like to join in the fun, I’m going to put together a Staff Summer Mix CD. All I need from you is your song pick for what you think is an excellent tune to listen to on a sunny summer day. If you can loan or burn me a CD or MP3 that would also be helpful (though not necessary). Songs are due to me by Friday, June 11th. If you want to join in and give me a song, I’ll burn you a Staff Mix CD for your summer enjoyment.

Have a great week!

Allan
