Hi Everyone,

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and I’d like to take the opportunity to recognize the dedication and hard work of ALL staff. It is the staff who make each of our school’s the special and unique programs that draw students and families from all over the city. Your work here at YG and Corridor certainly does not go unnoticed!

Five items of note for this week:

• Teacher Appreciation Week Luncheons and Staff Meetings – The PTO at each school will be putting on a staff luncheon on each school’s early release day (YG – Wednesday, Corridor – Friday). This will conflict with YG’s staff meeting, so I will postpone that meeting until next week.
• easyCBM Testing Window Opens – The Spring Benchmark testing window opens today and is open until May 28th. All scores must be entered by the 28th. If you need a sub to relieve you to complete testing, you may put in for a sub in AESOP using “easyCBM Assessment” as the absence reason. If you would like assistance entering scores, Ruby can enter scores for YG classes and Michael can enter scores for Corridor classes. If you’d like Ruby or Michael’s assistance, they must have all of your students’ scores no later than Friday, May 21st. Attached is a comprehensive document regarding the Spring tests, but please let me know if you have any questions.
• OAKS Testing Window – This is a reminder that the last day OAKS Online will be available is May 17th. Schools are accountable to test students in the required subject areas if they are enrolled in our school on or before May 1st. Let me know if you have any questions.
• Parent Surveys – Our annual parent surveys will be going out in Thursday envelopes this week at both schools. Surveys may be returned to either the office or classroom teachers and are due Friday May 21st. If you get any turned in at your classroom, please return them to the office.
• InterroBang Online Contest – Here’s a site I just discovered this weekend, done in partnership with the Smithsonian, and is described as a “socially-networked, problem-solving game that provides missions that are completed in the real world.” There are three levels (K-5, 6-8, and 9-12) and it looks like it could be a potentially good whole class activity, an elective, a TAG student project, or an early finisher activity. The website can be found here http://www.playinterrobang.com/ The current contest runs from this month until the end of June.

Have a great week!

Allan
