Hi Everyone,

It’s another four day week with students and five items of note:

• New Camera to Fight Vandalism – Our building and some neighboring schools were tagged with gang graffiti last week, so in hopes of catching the perpetrators, the Facilities Department has installed a camera behind the Corridor quad. The camera is motion sensitive and will be active between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM. Facilities has asked us not to mention the camera to students, just in case any students may know the culprits and might warn them, but I thought staff would like to know.
• School Choice Tours – School Choice Tours will be next week. Please remember that I’ll be taking groups into classrooms during the tour times. Please feel free to talk with the groups as they come in and tell them what you’re doing . I’m sure they’d be interested. Tour dates for January are:

o Monday, Jan 25 – 12:45-1:45, Yujin Gakuen
o Tuesday, Jan. 26 – 8:30-9:30, Corridor
o Wednesday, Jan 27 – 9:00-10:00, Yujin Gakuen
o Thursday, Jan. 28 – 8:30-9:30, Corridor

• Jan. 29, Grading Day – Christine Nesbit sent the following reminder to principals regarding certified staff and grading day. “January 29 is a grading day at most of the buildings. This is a reminder that teachers, as professionals, are required to report to school and be physically present at the buildings on grading days. If they complete grading prior to the end of the regularly scheduled workday, letting them leave when their work is done is consistent with their professional status.”
• Classified Furlough Day, Jan. 29 – This is a repeat from last week. All classified staff, with the exception of 12 month employees, have a furlough day on Friday, January 29th. See my August 31st blog entry for the classified and certified 09/10 work calendars.
• BLOG ONLY LINK – BBC Schools Website – I know many folks already know about this site, but just in case you don’t, the BBC has created number of excellent interactive games and challenges for students of all grade levels. They are sorted by subject and grade level, so there should be something there for everyone. http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/

Have a great week!
