January 18, 2010

Hi Everyone,

Hope you all had a good weekend. This week will be the first of two four day weeks with kids. January always seems to go fast with all of the short weeks.

Just three items of note for this week:

• Classified Furlough Day, Jan. 29 – All classified staff, with the exception of 12 month employees, have a furlough day on Friday, January 29th. See my August 31st blog entry for the classified and certified 09/10 work calendars.
• New 4J Email System – Zimbra – Between now and July 1, 2010, the school district will be moving all staff members’ email accounts to a new system called Zimbra Collaboration Suite. The Zimbra system includes not just email but also a fully featured calendaring system. CIS has been testing this new system with around 100 Ed Center staff for more than a year to help ensure that the rollout of the new system goes smoothly. More information will be coming from CIS later this year. If you’d like to read a longer explanation, go to my blog to read a detailed email from Les Moore.
• Staffing Timeline – March 1st is the current date HR believes they will give principals staffing for 2010-2011. Staffing Plans will be due to HR by April 9. These dates are subject to change due to Ballot Measures 66 and 67, but I thought people would like to know the current timeline.

Have a nice four day week, everyone!

Allan
