Hi All,

I’d like to congratulate both schools on receiving an “Outstanding” rating on the Oregon State Report Card! Only 392 schools received this rating. And if you’re wondering how many schools are in Oregon, there are a little over 1,300 public schools.

Four items of note for this week:

• Fire Drill – Our January fire drill with be this Monday at 1:00. Please plan accordingly.
• Lost and Found – Our new Lost and Found shed outside of the YG hallway, right by the playground, has been completed and is open for business, so if you have any kids who are looking for lost items send them to the new location. Crystal will unlock the shed in the mornings and Dan will secure it in the afternoons.
• Be Kind to Animals Poster Contest – The Oregon Humane Society is sponsoring a Poster and Photo Contest to promote kindness towards animals, which includes prizes for the top three winners at each grade level. Information can be found on their website.
• How to Close the Achievement Gap – Here’s a short good article titled “How the Achievement Gap Widens – and How to Close It” This is a summary version of the article taken from “The Marshall Memo”, which is a weekly round-up of important ideas and research in K-12 education.

Have a great week, everyone!

Allan
