Hello All!

The first full week back seemed to go well. Every year I think it’ll be hard to get back into the swing of school after the summer, but once the kids get here it all feels very natural and like I’d never left. We truly have the best jobs in the world!

Just four items of note for this week.

• easyCBM Reminder – As you finish up the one-on-one portion of the reading tests, please give them those tests to me or to Ruby if you’re a YG teacher or Michael if you’re a Corridor teacher. Ruby and Michael are doing the data entry for each school. Be sure to turn in all of your scores that need to be entered by the end of this week, Friday, September 25th.

• Imaging Update – Although our schools are better off than most, there are still a number of bugs that need to be worked out with the new laptop imaging. Nearly all of these bugs are needing to be handled by CIS, so at this point we have to simply wait out some of he bugs. However, we did get some new information at the end of last week, so here is my laptop imaging Q & A:

o Where are the applications? When you have students log-in using their district assigned ID, all of the applications we asked CIS to install (KidPix, iWork, iLife, etc…) will be there. However, at this time, applications are not yet located on the dock, so you will need to go into the “Applications” folder to find them. CIS is working to fix this. I’ve also asked them if they can lock the dock so kids can’t modify it.

o How do I find student log-in information? In eSIS, teachers can go to Reports, Custom Reports, and “Student Account List by Homeroom”. You can also have students log-in with “Student” as the username and “Student” as the password. However, with this log-in, you will only get a generic image with none of our licensed software.

o Where should students save work? When students log-in, an individual server icon (a globe) is supposed to show up under the hard drive icon on the desktop. However, CIS is having problems with this and it is only working part of the time. Please note that any work saved to the desktop or hard drive will not be there after the student logs-out or shuts the computer down.

o How do students print? Marvin has given CIS all of the printer IP address for each school, so once CIS updates our image, each school’s printers will show up as choices to print to. In the meantime, you will have to manually input the printer information or print the saved work off of a teacher computer.

o Where are the bookmarks on the web browser? CIS did not originally ask for this information, but I have sent a list of bookmarks to CIS for each school and they should show up on the updated image when students log-in.

• Ann Anderson, School Nurse, Revised Schedule – Anne is swapping her Corridor and YG days, so she we be available to see students at both schools. She will now be at YG Tuesday afternoons and at Corridor on Wednesday afternoons.

• Fire Drill – Our first Fire Drill of the year will be this Thursday at 10:25. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding evacuation procedures. On a related note, I will plan to hold another “Safety Week” once all of our security fencing is done being installed.

Have a great week, everyone!
