Connections Reminder: Be Prepared For Class!

to-be-prepared-cervantes-going-gentle-into-that-good-nightThe winter term has begun, and we could not be more excited!  We had 4 days of school in a row last week!  I have a feeling we will have 4 days in a row this week as well!

Please remember to be prepared for class…All Connections students should bring a pencil/pen, 3 ring binder, calculator and planer to every Connections seminar and advocate! Your planner and your calculator can be your cell phone!  Also remember that many Connections seminars take place in the Community.  Please be prepared for dressing appropriately for the situation (e.g. wearing appropriate clothing for the winter weather).

Your schedule may not be perfect.  If you would like to add or drop classes, please complete the pink drop/add forms that can be found on the resource shelf in the Student Lounge.  You first must get the signature of the staff that teaches the class you would like to add or drop.  You then must get your case managers signature.

Woo Hoo! The Winter Term Has Begun!

imgresThe winter term finally began on Friday, and it sure was great to be back at work!  We are looking forward to an exciting winter term.  We have a ton of great classes and activities planned this term!  If you do not have a winter term schedule, it is not too late!  Please make an appointment with your case manager or advocate and get a winter term schedule today!

Mark your planner: All 4J schools will be closed on Monday, January 16 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr.  Lane Community College will also be closed on Monday, January 16.

The weather has been very unpredictable lately, and we are having a wet snowy winter.  Below is a reminder of what happens when it snows:

In case of snow: Connections is part of the Eugene 4J school district.  If 4J is open, Connections is open.  If 4J is closed, Connections is closed.  The 4J web site (www.4j.lane.edu) will have the latest information on school closures.  I will post a message on this website if we are delayed or closed for the day.

In case of a 1 hour delay: All 9 am seminars and advocates will be canceled.  We will have a regular schedule starting at 10 am.

In case of a 2 hour delay: All 9 am and 10 am seminars and advocates will be canceled.  We will have a regular schedule starting at 11 am.

Sometimes Lane Community College will be closed and 4J will be open.  In that case, Connections will be open. If you have classes or advocates that take place at LCC, please talk to your teacher about what to do if LCC is closed.

Happy New Year! Welcome To The Winter Term!

2017-happy-new-year-png-28824Happy New Year!  We are very excited to be back and we are ready to start our electrifying winter term on Wednesday, January 4!  We have amazing seminars, advocates, tutorials and work experiences planned for 2017, and I don’t know about you, I can’t wait to get started!

The weather played havoc with our Winter Term Registration, and I know many students are not yet registered for our winter term.  Not to worry.  We will be holding registration meetings on the afternoon of Tuesday, January 3.  If you do not have a registration time, please call your advocate or case manager and lets get you signed up!  If you are not able to come in, we will be able to register you over the phone.

What is your plan for 2017?  What do you want to do?  Your challenge is to set a goal for 2017.  Do you want to improve your performance at work?  Do you want to improve your time management?  Do you want to be better with money?  Do you want to be a better cook?  Lets set some goals this week and see how much progress we can make this year!

All 4J schools are closed (including Connections) on Friday, December 16 due to dangerous driving conditions.  We have heard that some 4J schools do not have power.  We do not know if there is power in Building 2120 or not…

We will register students for Winter Term on the Afternoon of January 3.  If you can not make January 3, we will make an appointment to register you later that week.

Alumni Afternoon will also be postponed, and will not take place today.  We will move Alumni Afternoon to a Friday Afternoon in January.  Look for an announcement on this website after Winter Break.

Well, it looks like Winter Break has begun! Winter Break is from December 19 to January 2.  Staff will be at a training the morning of January 3, and we will have Winter Term Registration in the Afternoon.

Have a happy and safe winter break!  We will see you in 2017!
