Only four more weeks left for Winter Term!

Hope everyone has been enjoying our sunny days and cold nights! Signs of Spring are in the air and remember to keep moving forward with your goals.

Several students attended a special field trip to the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) this past Thursday. If you are interested in working and would like some help getting a job just let your case manager know and we can help connect you!

OVRS (Voc Rehab) Bus trip Thursday 20th

OVRS BUS TRIP

Thursday 20th we’ll go visit Chelsea Miller at the Voc Rehab office. 

On this trip you’ll see where the agency, and her office, is located. This is a great resource if you are interested in getting a job!

We are scheduled to meet her at 2:00, but please join Anders and the class at

LCC downtown at 1:00 to go over questions and prep for the visit. Be sure to bring your bus-pass.

No school on Monday! Presidents Day

We are half way through Winter term and on the road towards Spring!
Going outside and getting fresh air can be a great cure for the Winter blues.

Springfield Social this Friday!

We are now well underway with Winter term.  I really see most students thriving and doing their best!  Continue to attend all your classes on time so you can build strong positive habits 🙂

The Springfield CTE program is holding their annual transition social this Friday 1/24/19. There will be dancing, pizza and Italian soda’s provided.
Connections will be transporting students via activity van and the cost is $5.00 per person.  If you can’t afford the money, talk to your case manage and we will figure it out.

MLK March

2020 MLK Community March!

Gathering starts at 9 am north gate of Autzen Stadium. March commences after a short kick off program featuring representatives and students from the University of Oregon.

SPRINGFIELD

When/Where:  1-3:30 p.m., Monday, January 20. The MLK March for Justice and Equality begins at 1 p.m. at the Springfield Justice Center at 230 4th Street, and a reception from 1:30-2 p.m. and celebration from 2-3:30 p.m. at Springfield High School, 875 7th Street. The event is wheelchair accessible and will have ASL and Spanish interpretation available in addition to Assisted-Hearing devices.

The Keynote Speakers for this event will be the high school speech contest winners.

Who:  All community members and visitors are invited and encouraged to attend this free event.

Welcome to the 2nd week of Winter term!

On these cold, rainy, dark days of Winter it might be hard to keep your motivation going and sometimes showing up with a positive attitude can be tough. I encourage you to get rest, exercise and make good choices. Your future depends on it!

Remember that next Monday January 20th is no school for 4j and LCC due to Martin Luther King day.

Today is our first day of swimming/work out at Sheldon Recreation Center. We will be leaving the Connections building at 1:15pm, arriving to St Mary’s Church parking lot (West of the Library) at 1:30pm and then Sheldon by 1:45pm. We will work out/swim 2:00-3:00 pm. We get back downtown around 3:30pm and back to the Connections building by 3:45pm. Please bring the appropriate clothes and gear to swim/work out.

Welcome to Winter term!

The staff at Connections hope you had a fun and productive time off.  We are so excited to see all of you again and resume our very important work of adulting!  All Connections seminars, work crews and advocates begin on Tuesday January 7th.

Have a wonderful winter break!

Thursday is the last day of regularly scheduled classes for Fall term! Winter term begins on Tuesday January 7th.

On Friday December 20th students will take the activity van from Connections building 2120 at 10:15am to downtown. The van will pick students up at St Mary’s church parking lot (next to the library) between 10:30am and 10:40am and then will continue to Emerald Lanes at Oakway (140 Oakway Rd, Eugene, OR 97401). We will begin bowling at 11:00am, strike! After that we will go to Abby Legendary Pizza on River Road for lunch (1970 River Rd, Eugene, OR 97404). There will be good conversations and an optional white elephant gift exchange with gifts provided by Connections.

Mark Your Calendars for Friday December 20th for End of Term Party!

On Friday December 20th Students will be taking an activity van from 2120 Bailey Hill to Emerald Bowling near Oakway Mall. We will begin bowling at 11am and after that we will head to Abby’s on River Road for some Pizza. Students can then participate in a white elephant gift exchange with gifts provided by Connections.
