Thinking Smart for Commercial Holidays

Prices for flowers and gifts have skyrocketed! The same flowers and chocolates from last year may gone up in price by 20% or more. (see CBS video/article here)

Does love and appreciation have to happen on the day of the holiday? NO.

From Hallmark’s Cards (80’s Hallmark commercial), to Hershey’s special wrapping their chocolates in pink and red foil, Valentine’s Day has been a very commercialized holiday of consumption.

Feelings/Advice:

  • A day or two after the holiday, the cost of roses and candy will be much cheaper.
  • There’s always the decision to draw or make something for someone.
  • Making a special thing to do together for the holiday is also a good choice: make a meal together, give each other a shoulder rub, or other.
