This week is Teacher Appreciation Week for 2009 and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank ALL staff for your hard work and contributions to both of our wonderful schools. It’s truly your work, attitudes, and efforts with all of our students and families that make our schools’ the special places they are. Thank you all very much!
Three items of note for this week:
• Spring Testing Guidelines – Attached (spring-test-guidelines.pdf) is a detailed update of the administrative guidelines specifically tailored to Spring testing. Pages 11-18 will be the more useful pages to teachers. Reading testers will administer all 1:1 tests. Teachers will administer group tests, which can be done throughout the entire testing window (May 4-29) as long as scores are in entered into the system by Friday May 29th. Let me know if you have any questions.
• 4J English/Language Arts PD Survey – The 08-09 ELA survey is up and running. New this year is a Paraprofessional PD survey as well (for paraprofessionals who instruct students). The link to each survey is listed below. IAs attending the last IA workshop on May 6th will have a chance to complete the survey at that time. It is important for everyone to complete the survey by May 29th, as it gives the district helpful information to plan for future professional development.

• Rotary Recognition Award – Each year the Eugene Rotary Club recognizes students for their service to others. This year four upper elementary or middle school students will be recognized. Each of them will get a small cash award and a certificate of recognition. See the attachment (rotary2009.doc) for details.
