Hello Everyone,

I hope you are all refreshed and rejuvenated after the break. I know I enjoyed taking some time off to read, watch movies, and spend time with friends.

Six items of note for when we return this week:

• March 30th Professional Development – When we return from Spring Break, we have our final building Professional Development/Planning Day. We will use this day to address technology instruction. The day’s schedule will be:

o 8:30-10:00, Corridor in Library
o 10:30-12:00, YG in Library (unless someone wants to volunteer their classroom)
o 1:00-3:30, Corridor & YG Staff Technology Tips and Sharing in Corridor Library

• Technology Sharing on March 30th – Please let me know if you are willing to share at the afternoon technology staffing sharing portion of the day on the 30th. Useful websites, clever uses of various hardware, projects you’ve done, I’d love to have folks share any of the great things I see going on in classrooms. I haven’t heard from too many Corridor folks yet (nudge, nudge).
• Million Child Challenge Free Presentation – The Oregon Banking Association is offering free 90 minute classroom presentations through April, K-5, teaching students to save money. If you are interested, you can visit the national website, http://www.aba.com/ABAEF/tcts.htm, see the attachment (scan0096_000.pdf), or contact Tracy Watson, Branch Manager at Sterling Savings, Ph. 541-484-2064, Tracy.Watson@Sterlingsavings.com
• Music Education Outreach Program – The Eugene Concert Choir is offering a free in-class music education opportunity for grades K-5 through May. A small ensemble of Choir singers will present a 35-45 minute lesson, reinforcing basic musical concepts such as melody, rhythm and musical independence, with a focus is on American Folk music. They will provide teachers with an Educational Packet in advance of our visit as well as a CD of the songs presented so you can continue with the lesson content and expand it if you so choose. They can also return for additional presentations if requested. Let me know if you’d like the application information.
• Sacred Heart Trauma Nurse Classroom Presentation – Sacred Heart Medical Center is offering free 30 minute presentations on Helmet and Seatbelt Use for up to 50 students, grades K-5. The goal of the program is to give students tools to recognize potentially harmful situations and behavior that supports injury prevention. If you are interested, call or email Roz Ramberg at 686-6857, rramberg@peacehealth.org , in the Public Affairs Office.
• Izzy’s Academic Achievement Awards – Izzy’s Pizza is offering Academic Achievement Awards for students that entitles them to one free Child’s Izzy Classic Buffet (12 and under). If you’d be interested in getting some certificates, let me know and I’ll order them.

Have a nice week everyone!

Allan
