Hi Everyone,

Six items of note for this week:

• Spring Benchmark Testing – Please see Jim Conaghan’s email for details regarding Spring easyCBM testing in reading and math. The testing window goes from May 3rd to May 28th. All scores must be entered by the 28th. As with Fall and Winter testing, if you need a sub to relieve you to complete testing, you may put in for a sub in AESOP using the same sub code as in the Fall. If you would like assistance entering scores, Ruby can enter scores for YG classes and Michael can enter scores for Corridor classes. If you’d like Ruby or Michael’s assistance, they must have all of your students’ scores no later than Friday, May 21st. Please let me know if you have any questions.
• Zimbra Email Changeover – Before the end of May, the entire school district is switching over the Zimbra, which means Eudora, Webmail, and other email applications will no longer work. Many staff member have already changed over. If you are one the of folks who have not made the changeover, there will be two final trainings offered to staff and you can decide at which training you want to be switched over to the new system. The first trainging will be during a YG staff meeting on Apriil 21st. The final training, where all remaining staff will be switched over, will be during a Corridor staff meeting on May 21st. Please let me know if you have any questions.
• North Region In-Service DocumentAttached is a compilation of all the stickies staff posted during one of the equity activities during the March 29th North Region In-Service. It’s a nice document to real all of what is going on in the schools around our region.
• Article on Public Displays of Student WorkAttached is an interesting article that shows a correlation between the square footage of student work and student achievement. Speaking as someone who was never very good about changing my classroom displays, this study is a good reminder how important it is to display and celebrate student work on a regular basis.
• Safety Inspection – This week, on either Wednesday or Thursday, will be our annual safety inspection. Crystal and I will be coming through classroom this week for our pre-inspection. Staff should be aware and make sure your teaching spaces are in compliance with the following:

o Hallway walls cannot have more than 20% covered in paper or other materials.
o 3 foot pathway to all of your exit doors.
o No extension cords. Power strips only.
o No power strips plugged into another power strip. (Crystal has extra power strips with 25 foot cords if you need them.)
o Nothing hanging from your ceiling, lights, or overhead wires.
o Any cloth hanging on your wall must be fire proofed.

• Earthquake/Fire Drill – Our April fire drill will be this Monday at 10:30 will also include our final required earthquake drill of the year.

Have a sunny week!

Allan
