Review
Breath of the Wild is a video game made by Nintendo that released earlier this year. It was first revealed at E3 in 2013 and was planned to come out in 2015. Planned to come out on the Wii U, everybody was excited for the release date for 2015. However after many time constraints Nintendo just decided to make it a launch title for their new console, the Nintendo Switch.
Breath of the Wild is an open world game, that is very complicated, yet keeps things simple, it is a great game but still has some issues. The game consists of 3 main parts, shrine hunting, the main story, and combat. With many other components as well.
Story
Breath of the Wild starts out with Link waking up is the shrine of revival, not having any memories. This is a great setup because the player has the same amount of knowledge as the main character. He then walks up to a strange pedestal and recieves the Shieka Slate, an item I will talk about more in the gameplay section. He exits the shrine, and sees an old man sitting by a fire. He goes and talks to the old man, and the old man gives him the task of going to 4 different shrines in the great plateau to gain their power. He then asks Link to go to the top of the temple of time, so he can give Link the glider (another thing I will talk about later.) Once Link arrives the old man reveals himself as the old man of the king of Hyrule from long ago. He then instructs Link to destroy Calamity Ganon, and Link goes on his way.
Gameplay
This game plays well, like almost all Zelda games, but this game has some things that make it unique. One of these things is the Sheikah Slate. The Sheika Slate allows you to control metal objects, build ice blocks in water, throw bombs, and freeze items or enemies for a short time. These are really fun to use, and make dungeons really fun. Speaking of, this game only has 4 main dungeons, other than that it has 150 shrines. Shrines are essentially mini dungeons, and they’re a lot of fun. The last thing that makes this game unique is the glider. In this game Link is able to climb, he also has a glider to glide down off tall places. These two things perfectly go together. You want to climb, just so you can glide down to many different places.
Overall I think this game is a lot of fun, and very well made. I would give this game a score of 10/10, this game has no flaws. Some people had issues with frame rates and therefore gave it a lower score, however, I didn’t have any issues.
