Hello Everyone

It’s hard to believe we’re now halfway through the school year!

Six items of note for this week.

• Staffing Survey – As I’ve done each year, attached is a survey regarding next year’s staffing plan and also what you would like to be doing next year and beyond. I’d like to hear from all staff, both classified and certified. All answers will be kept confidential. We will have a more in-depth discussions as a staff regarding next year’s staffing plan, but this is a place to start that will help me create some draft plans once we have our staffing allocations. Allocations are currently set to be given to principals February 23rd. You can reply to me via email or by returning a hardcopy to my mailbox (although I prefer email). Please return completed surveys to me by Friday, February 10th.

• School Choice Tours – Since this is a repeat, I just wanted to remind everyone that school choice tours will be happening this week per the following schedule. Please be ready for groups to pass through your rooms during these times.

Yujin Gakuen

• Monday, January 30th, 12:45-1:45

• Wednesday, February 1st, 9:00-10:00

Corridor
• Tuesday, January 31st, 8:30-9:30

• Thursday, February 2nd, 8:30-9:30

• Updated IIPM Data Meeting Dates – Since last week’s IIPM Data Team meeting was a couple weeks later than originally planned, Marlee and I decided to change the remaining meeting dates so that students have adequate time to show growth between meetings. The remaining IIPM Data meetings will be:

• Thursday, March 8th
• Thursday, May 3rd

• Science Fair – If you are doing any interesting science projects or if you know of any students who would find this event motivating, SPICE (Science Program to Inspire Creativity and Excellence) will host the first University of Oregon K-12 science and Invention Fair on April 21, 2012. See the flyer for further information.

• Finding a Balance Between Works and Home – Are you present in your home after school is over or are you still tending to school matters? Are you present with your friends and family in your time away from school, or has planning, e-mailing, and grading seeped into your private life? Are you home when you’re at home? Sara Cramer shared this article with principals, encouraging us to find a healthy balance between work and home and I thought it would be good for staff to reflect on as well.

• New Blog Theme – And for the least important announcement of the week, I’ve found a new “theme” for my blog that I think is more readable than the one I was using the past two weeks, so that’s the reason for the blog change.

Have an excellent week, everyone!
