Hello Everyone,

March 2-6 is Classified School Employees Week and I want to express my extreme gratitude to our wonderful classified staff. Without your contributions, our schools would not be what they are today. Your hard work, support, and everything you do above and beyond the call of duty has certainly not gone unnoticed and is greatly appreciated!

Five items of note for this week:

• Friday, March 6th, Professional Development Schedule – On Friday we will have professional development activities happening at each school in the morning. The afternoon will be planning time for staff. Previous announcements have the detailed version the activities, but here’s the quick version:

o COR – 8:00-12:00 EasyCBM Training in Library
o YG – 8:30-12:00 EEA Diversity Cadre Training in Library

• Register Guard “Newspapers in Education” Program – The Register Guard offers free daily deliver (M-F) of newspapers to classrooms who would use them. They have a wide variety of curriculum guides available. Some of the curriculum guides can be downloaded from their website, http://www.registerguard.com/. Let me know by the end of the week if you would like one or multiple daily papers to use in your classroom.
• Register Guard Google Archive – Google has chosen the RG to be one of a few newspapers to archive as a test run for them. They have archived the paper starting from the first issue in 1867. More info on this is coming later this month.
• School Phone Number Changes – Next year the school district will be changing telephone numbers across the district. Attached (new-prefix-genl-info-announcment.doc) is a document that summarizes the reasons for the telephone prefix change as well as some information on how the changes will be implemented. It is also very important that over the summer, staff leave all phones plugged in. Let me know if you have any questions about this change.
• Fire Drill on Thursday at 10:45 – Remember we have a fire drill this week.

Have a great week, everyone!

Allan
