Three items of note for this week:
• Black History Month – February is Black History Month. This is a good reminder to weave black history and historical figures throughout your curriculum. Below are a few resources to help folks in teaching Black History. The first link is especially good and a must read.
• Dos and Don’t of Teaching Black History from Teaching Tolerance
• 4J Black History Web Links page contains many good links, including The African American Mosaic from The Library of Congress.
• African American History Month is also from the Library of Congress and is different from the one above. It’s a very thorough site.• Close Breaker Panel Box in Gym/Cafeteria Hallway – Please remember to close the breaker panel in the hallway between the gym and cafeteria. Last week a student was injured by the panel door when it was left open. For safety reasons it must stay closes and will need to be locked if it continues to be left open.
• Sustainable Budget Recommendations – George will present his final final set of recommendations and alternate options for school board action Wednesday evening. I thought folks might want to know they will be posted on the district website in advance of the meeting, probably on Monday.
