Hi Everyone!

I have a reasonable about of items of note this week. Last week had too many.

• Report Cards – Please read the attachment (winter-reporting_elem_012209.doc) from Jim Conaghan regarding report cards. We are not to send home Data Warehouse parent reports or OAKS generated reports. Also attached (natlorfnorms.pdf), and explained further in the first attachment, are national norms for oral reading fluency (ORF/PRF/words per minute). 4J norms are much higher than the national average and this is to help teacher when deciding to mark a student as “at” or “above” grade level on report cards.
• District Budget Survey – I would encourage everyone to weigh in and let your feelings be known regarding the school district budget. See George’s email for details. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=G5J9DbZCzYTVREMWviID5g_3d_3d
• School Choice Tours – School Choice Tours will be this week. Please keep in mind I’ll be taking groups into classrooms during the tours. Please feel free to talk with parents on the tour and tell them what you’re doing with kids. I’m sure they’d be interested. Tour dates for January are:

o Monday, Jan 26 – 12:45-1:45, Yujin Gakuen
o Tuesday, Jan. 27 – 8:30-9:30, Corridor
o Wednesday, Jan 28 – 9:00-10:00, Yujin Gakuen
o Thursday, Jan. 29 – 8:30-9:30, Corridor

• Special Blog Only Video Post – Yo-Yo Assembly Clip from The Simpsons – http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=2edpdgh&s=5

Enjoy four-day week number two!
