Hi All,

I had snow at my house this weekend and there is still a chance of snow Sunday night. Remember to check the district web site or KRVM Monday (and maybe Thursday) morning to see if school has been cancelled. The district tries to make their decision by 6:00, so if you don’t see anything by then, we’re probably having school as usual.

Quite a few items for folks to take note of this week:

• 4J Contracts – Please check your 4J contract for accuracy. There has been three mistakes in our building and my wife actually had something wrong on her contract too.
• 4J IIPM Website – The school district has created an IIPM site with some useful items, particularly in the “Forms” section, including a Student Profile Template, an Assessment Grid Template, an Intervention Grid Template, and also a good generic letter to notify parents that their child has been referred to the IIPM/SST Team. This site will continually be updated with new resources. http://www.4j.lane.edu/curriculum/forms
• Winter District Assessments – Attached and on the blog (winter-testing.doc) is a long document containing information about the Winter district assessments, including:

o Accessing and administration of assessments using the EasyCBM site
o Determining who participates
o Allowable accommodations
o Guidelines for math assessment administration
o Answer keys for math

Here’s the quick version. 3/4/5 teachers will need to read how to administer the online math assessments (applications & computation). 2/3/4/5 will need to read how to administer the online reading comprehension assessment. 1/2 will be the same as the Fall. Kindergarteners will be assessed by district staff for reading only.
• 4J OAKS Resource Site – 4J has created a quick, clean site for folks using OAKS, listing just about anything you need to know about the state assessment (from cut scores to allowable accommodations). http://www.4j.lane.edu/testing/oakstestingresources
• Multi-Cultural Rep Meeting – Not every building sends a rep to this meeting, but the 4J Multicultural Reps have started meeting again. They meet monthly to discuss diversity & equity issues, as well as multicultural education. If you are interested in attending this meeting as a rep for your school or for both schools, let me know. Meeting dates are 1/22/2009 4-5:30pm, 2/26/2009 4-5:30pm, 3/17/2009 4-5:30, pm, 4/21/2009 4-5:30pm, and 5/28/2009 4-5:30pm.
• January 5th Professional Development Schedule – When staff return from Winter Break, we will have professional development activities happening at each school in the morning. See last week’s announcements for the detailed version. Here’s the quick version.

o YG – 8:00-12:00 EasyCBM Training in Patrick’s classroom
o COR – 8:30-12:00 EEA Diversity Cadre Training in Library

• Special Blog Only Link – Click here if you want to see your principal being a dork on Elf Yourself. http://elfyourself.jibjab.com/view/JL2BJjz0ij5jh1RU331h

It’s almost Winter Break! Start your countdown!
