Hi Everyone,

Three items of note for this week:

• March 29th Professional Development – March 29th, the day we return from Spring Break, is a Professional Development/Planning Day. This day there will be a racial equity seminar for the entire North Region at Madison MS, similar to ones held in the South and Churchill regions. All staff who normally work this day, both classified and certified, will be expected to attend. Please watch for details that will be forthcoming.
• Oregon Writing Project InstituteAttached is a flyer for this summer’s Oregon Writing Project Institute at the University of Oregon. The program is designed for experienced teachers of all grade levels and the workshop model used by OWP has achieved national recognition for improving students’ writing. Also, you may recognize one of the OWP staff members at the bottom of the flyer.
• Webinar on the Relation between Spanish and English Reading Development – This webinar will explain the differences and similarities between the Spanish and the English orthographic systems for teachers providing reading instruction to Spanish-speaking English learners attending either an English-only or a bilingual reading program. It is scheduled for Thursday, April 8th at noon (PST) and an invitation with instructions is attached to this e-mail. If you are unable to join on 4/8 they are recording this session for future viewing.

Have a pleasant week, everyone!

Allan
