Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all thinking about your Halloween costumes for next week. I think I’m going to be a half principal, half gorilla. Three items of note for this week:

• Tumblebooks Workshop – 4J is offering a workshop on how to utilize Tumblebooks/Readables on 10/21 and how to become your building’s resident expert on the programs. There are only 11 slots available and you can sign-up for it here http://www.4j.lane.edu/staff/workshops/
• Veterinary Presentation – The VCA Westmoreland Animal Hospital is offering free classroom presentations to local schools through May 2009, focused on veterinary science. If you are interesting in having a presentation or have questions, contact Amy Gath by email (amy.gath@vcamail.com) or phone (485-4595). http://www.vcawestmoreland.com/
• Picturing America Grant – Picturing America is a new initiative from the National Endowment for the Humanities that brings masterpieces of American art into classrooms and libraries nationwide. Through the program, students will gain a deeper appreciation of our country’s history and character through the study and understanding of its art. Successful applicants will receive a set of 20 laminated reproductions printed on both sides with artwork and a Teachers Resource Book. http://picturingamerica.neh.gov/about.php

Have a pleasant week!
