Hi Everyone,

We are definitely on the countdown to Winter Break. This of course means that we can expect extra stress among our students and families (and ourselves too), so be prepared for the unexpected and please let me know if there is anything I can do to help support you or if you just need someone to listen.

Four items of note for this week:

• UO International Cultural Presentations for ClassroomsAttached is this year’s International Cultural Services Program offered by the University of Oregon. The ICSP program is designed to bring talented UO international students into your classroom to share their cultural traditions and to help develop greater cross-cultural understanding. There are 50 students in the program, representing over 40 different countries, including Iraq, Pakistan, Israel, the Netherlands, France, Burkina Faso, Taiwan and Cambodia. If you have any questions or would like to invite a student to speak to your class, contact ICSP by phone (346-1333) or email (icsp@uoregon.edu). More information can also be found on their website http://www.icsp.uoregon.edu
• iBooks Imaging Completed – Creating a base image for our iBooks gave Misty from CIS more trouble than she expected. She was able to finally get it to working on Friday and came in over the weekend to finishing re-imaging the computers for both schools. If you are having any issues with the new image and need changes to be made contact either Marvin or myself.
• Winter Benchmark Reading Testing Deadline – All testing for Winter Reading Benchmark testing must be completed and entered into the easyCBM website by Friday, December 18th. If you would like Ruby or Michael to enter this data for you, the deadline to give them your scores is Monday, December 14th. Please let me know if you have any questions.
• Political Activities by 4J Employees – With elections coming up, attached is a long explanation of what 4J Employees are allowed to do while on the job. The short version is you can’t use job time and/or public funds and equipment (including e-mail) to lobby for or against candidates or measures, but employees can wear political buttons as an expression of free speech. Let me know if you have any questions.

Have a great week, everyone!

Allan

PS: NOAA is predicting a slight chance of snow this Sunday!
