It’s the first of our two short weeks with planning/PD Fridays. This coming Friday is a planning day and the next is the state-wide inservice day. Three items for folks to take note of this week:
• October 10th State Inservice Day – Teachers, be sure you have signed-up for a workshop or training this day. The Lane ESD is offering a few trainings this day http://www.lesd.k12.or.us/workshops/listings/ 4J usually sends out a list of available workshops, so keep you eye out for that sometime this week (if they send one).
• Translation & Interpretation Assistance – If you ever have translation or interpretation needs, please save the following contact information for future reference:o To request interpretation/ translation services for individual school activities such as parent conferences or general school meetings, please contact, Debi Starr, ELL Program Assistant starr@4j.lane.edu or call 687-3145.
o To request interpreting services for activities related to Educational Support Services such as IEPs and eligibility meetings, Please contact Susan Dawe, Education Support Services (ESS) at Dawe@4j.lane.edu or call 687- 3360.
• Safety Week – It’s Safety Week this week, so be sure you are prepared for the drills each day. Please review the procedures for each drill with students prior to drill itself. You can let students know the purpose of each drill and what is expected of students during each drill.
• Teaching Tolerance – This is an excellent site if you are looking for lessons and resources regarding diversity and equity issues. You can also get a free subscription to their excellent twice a year magazine. http://www.tolerance.org/
