Hi Everyone,

It’s looks like were in for some cooler weather this week and that Fall weather is now beginning.

Three items for this week:

• 2008 Elections – 43 days left until election day. I’m wondering if there is interest in doing some sort of school-wide activity around the election, having students vote for President or have some speakers come. Let me know if this is something people are interested in. There are also some decent resources out on the web, such as:

o National Student Mock Election

o PBS

o Scholastic

o Time for Kids

• Oct. 3rd Professional Development/Planning Day Trade-Off – Friday, October 3rd is supposed to be a half-day of professional development and a half-day of planning, but I’m making this an all-day planning day as a trade off for doing an extended staff meeting later in the year. Last year I talked with staff about doing the two day EEA Diversity Cadre training one day on a professional development day and then hold the follow-up training as an extended staff meeting. Last year EEA was unable to fit us into their schedule, but we’re on their schedule for this year and we’ll do the payback planning day on the 3rd.
• Safety Week – Not this week, but next week is Safety Week. Be sure to review the procedures and are familiar with them before next week. Also remember to plan with your teaching partner when you will do your Room Clear drill on Tuesday, September 30th. The other drills all have set times. Let me know if you have any questions on any of these drills.

Have an excellent week!

Allan
