• Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast – Please submit the names of your volunteers to Alicia as soon as possible. She is sending out the invites on Monday. Thank you to the three teachers who already submitted their volunteers names. The invites will be placed in your box by Monday.

• Tuesday’s Staff Meeting Agenda –

1. Supply Fee Decision for 2015 and Back to School Processes.

2.  School wide Communication Plan for 15-16

3. Moving logistics and needs for end of the year.

4. Curriculum Mapping Format and clarification.

• Downtown Admin Updates – Monica Brown has accepted the position of Chief Financial Officer/Director of Support Services and will begin her new assignment on July 27th. Monica is currently working for the Oregon Department of Justice as their CFO. Before that she served as principal legislative analyst for the Legislative Fiscal Office in Salem. She has also worked in the financial offices of the Oregon State Police, Oregon Department of Administrative Services-Budget and Management and the Public Works Department. Monica is excited to be returning home to Eugene. In the 1990’s she worked for the City of Eugene.

• Not Interchangeable – Sex? Sexual Orientation? Gender Identity? Gender Expression? Knowing how these terms are distinct from one another can make a huge difference in your classroom. This may not seem like an elementary level issue, but it is something that’s come up for elementary students in our building this year. Read more in this Teaching Tolerance article.

• Mindfulness – Great Video for Children – A simple message about mindfulness and managing emotions from children, called Just Breathe that I thought was worth sharing.

• Carpooling to OABE–I imagine that some of you will want to carpool to the OABE conference. We will briefly spend time to arrange this in the staff meeting on Tuesday. Edna is working on  lodging arrangements at the nearest hotel to OABE.

It’s the last full work week of the school year! Make it a good one!

Joel
