Hi All,

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and I’d like to take the opportunity to thank ALL Camino del Río staff for your work and dedication. From the kitchen to the gym, each and every one of you make a huge difference for our students. In their eyes, you are all teachers. What you all do for children each and every day makes our school the wonderful place it is.  I know kids and families really do love and appreciate the hard work you all do here every day of the year. It shows in their smiles, hugs, and affectionate words. The Camino del Río community rocks.

What is happening?

• Fiesta Thanks– It was my first Fiesta.  Wow, was it fun!  I really enjoyed the experience of being together with all the kids, parents, and staff all at once.  The kids were so happy. All the hard work and organization was entirely worth it!  I want to give a huge thank you to Alicia, Maja, Edna, Sonido Azteca (Alex), and all the employees and parents who made it such a success.

• Wordle from  Dr. Robyn Duran-

• Staff Appreciation Week Niceties

Monday: Enjoy a doughnut in the staff room.
Tuesday: Fruit and snacks from the office to the staff.
Wednesday: A Yumm Style lunch provided by the classified staff.
Thursday: Something that smells great.
Friday: Coffee from our favorite  business on River Road and kid appreciation for our teachers!

• El Gato Play this Tuesday– Upstart Crow begins at 8:30 next Tuesday. This will be a very  fun play that will be entirely in Spanish.  I am really looking forward to it and I think the students will enjoy it too.  Expect to be called near the start of class right after attendance.

• Smarter Balanced Opt Outs Deadline Change – Downtown emailed principals last week that the deadline for opting out of tests has changed and the district will now accept and approve forms for any student until testing concludes. If a student has already taken one test and we receive an opt-out form, then the student will not have to take the remaining test segments. The opt-out form can be found at the following link, and should to be turned in to the superintendent’s office. Note, the actual form is at the very bottom on the linked document.

•Hilliard Sidewalk Issues– Shane McRhodes sent me an email last week about the sidewalk that will lead to River Road for the new building.  Apparently, there is an issue with creating a sidewalk that leads all the way to the intersection.  There are property lines that make it hard to create a clear right of way.  The district will need to work closely with one of the property owners about creating the right of way somehow.  I will keep you all updated on this issue.

•Classroom Assignments for next year– I have been working on several scenarios for classroom placements.  I will release my final decision by the end of the week. If you would like to share your feelings about the placements, please come by to see my ideas and share your own.

•PLT Agenda-

1. Confirming Summer Conferences

2. HASD Data Collection and Analysis

3. CAP Revisions and approval by PLT

Oh, and happy mother’s day to all!

tu lengua? ¿Si soy viento nacido de tu roca?
