Hi Everyone,

Welcome back to another fabulous school year! I can’t wait to get to see everyone and hear what you’ve done this summer.

Five items of note for this week:

• Welcome Maureen Kashdan, New CLC One-on-One Instructional Assistant – Please welcome our new six hour CLC one-on-one IA, Maureen Kashdan! Maureen will be joining Jennifer, Michael, Jon, and Kristi. Maureen Kashdan will be a one-on-one for a Corridor kinder and a YG 4th grader. Prior to coming here, Maureen was an IA in the CLC at River Road. Please make her feel welcome as she joins our schools!
• YG Staff Meeting Date Change – One change in schedule for YG will be that our Back-to-School staff meeting will be on Wednesday, September 1st from 12:00-3:30 to avoid overlapping with the math workshop being held on Friday. See Zimbra calendar for details.
• Math Adoption Professional Development Friday – This Friday, September 3rd, there will be a workshop on the new math adoption at Cesar Chavez. See the Zimbra calendar for details.
• Staff Meeting “Barn Burner” – If you’d like a jump on one of my activities for our back-to-school staff meeting, you can think of a “Barn Burner” that no one staff would know. So in other words, think of something that is exciting, impressive, or otherwise interesting about yourself that you don’t think anyone else on staff (or at least very few) would know about you.
• Mandatory Policy Review for all Staff – All staff must review the district policies under section 1 of the website below and return the acknowledgment form (which you will get at the staff meeting) to Allan no later than September 30th. http://www.4j.lane.edu/superintendent/2010administratormemo
• Employee Work Year Calendars – If you have questions about your work year calendar, 4J has posted a convenient website with work year calendars for all employee groups. http://www.4j.lane.edu/hr/workyearcalendars
• Assessment Windows – To help folks with long range planning, below are the district and state testing windows. easyCBM will be administered as it was last year. Teachers may order subs in AESOP if you choose. And with OAKS, we ask teacher not test student until January at the earliest. More details can be found on the 4J Assessment/Testing website: http://www.4j.lane.edu/testing/testingassessment

easyCBM Reading (K-5) and Math (1-5):

o Fall: September 8 – October 6

OAKS:

o Reading & Math (grades 3-5), Science (grade 5 only): October 13 – May 19
o Writing is January 12 – February 24 (grade 4 only)

See your Zimbra calendars (Corridor, YG, and Silver Lea) for future dates.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone the week! Here’s to another great school year!

Allan
